I've seen this time and time again in various industries, especially with software. Neither are parametric though.įirst, keep in mind that the best products don't necessarily win. Two other options if you're looking for Mac software are Rhino and FormZ. I was going to get ViaCAD Pro + PowerPack but at the time I purchased the standard SharkCAD was the same price and included all the PowerPack features as well as a couple extra over ViaCAD. Not sure about textures as I haven't played with rendering.Ĭheck the prices and features carefully if you upgrade. You can pick up hints about this in forum discussions but I'm not sure if it's ever explicitly called out on the product comparison pages.įWIW I'm running SharkCAD (non-pro) and it definitely has loft, threads and spline import (kinda - you can import an image and it will "best fit" the lines). That is a big deal because ACIS supports many more solid operations as well as the history tree. I posted about them here and here.įrom memory with version 12 2D/3D doesn't use ACIS at all, whereas Pro and SharkCAD do. I haven't experienced any crashing but I have encountered some annoying clipping and rendering bugs.
